Nayantara has no right to play Sita

Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK), has objected to reigning actress Nayantara donning the role of Goddess Sita in veteran Telugu actor Balakrishna's mythological film Sri Rama Rajyam, based on a chapter in the great epic Ramayana due to her controversial affair with choreographer-director Prabhu Deva.

Describing the epic Ramayana as a “book of morals” that insists on the principle of “one man, one woman” in life, HMK state organising secretary Kannan asked what right Nayantara had to act as Sita while she "tried to steal another woman’s husband in real life?"

HMK a leading Hindu political party in Tamil Nadu, is widely known for its stand against a numbeer of actresses, including Shriya Saran and Mallika Sherawat for their short dresses in public functions.

The party spoke out against actress Khushbu several times and recently gave a boycott call against Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakta Charitra, because the lead actors Vivek Oberoi and Suriya toured Sri Lanka for the shooting. HMK had also campaigned against actor Asin for touring Sri Lanka for Ready.
