Court asks SRK to deposit Rs. 1 crore before Ra.One release

Bombay High Court has directed actor Shah Rukh Khan to pay Rs. 1 crore as deposit by Saturday before going ahead with the release of his film Ra.One.

It was hearing a petition filed by television producer and writer Yash Patnaik. He told The Hindu: “The court observed that prima facie, there is a copyright infringement.”

“I had moved the court for an injunction saying the characters and the essence of the movie have a lot of similarities with my story. Even the details of the characterisation like that of the main villain are similar.”

If the defendants failed to pay the deposit in the court by Saturday, the injunction would become operational, he said.

The court is slated to hear arguments in due course of time.

A Bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice R.S. Dalvi observed that it was unfortunate that a lot of films were being made without giving credit to the persons whose concepts were used.

Ra.One, touted as one of Shah Rukh Khan's most ambitious projects, is slated to be released on October 26.
